Tobi Amusan Breaks Records to Become the Fastest Woman in 100m Hurdles Worldwide!

Nigerian sprinter Tobi Amusan has made her mark in history, emerging as the fastest woman in the world! At the 2024 Jamaica Athletics Invitational, Tobi set a remarkable record of 12.40s (0.9) in the 100m hurdles, surpassing reigning world champion Danielle Williams of Jamaica, who secured second place with a run of 12.46s, and American Christina Clemens in third with 12.54s.

Initially trailing behind Danielle and America’s Nia Ali, Tobi showcased extraordinary speed, surging ahead in the final stretch to claim victory and eclipse the previous world-leading time of 12.42 seconds set by Tonea Marshall of the USA in April.

The Nigerian sports community erupted in celebration, with Sports Minister John Enoh taking to social media to extend his heartfelt congratulations to Amusan for her phenomenal achievement.
